A St. Thomas landmark, The Midtown Tavern has been serving cold pints and tasty cocktails since 1935. Located at 701 Talbot Street, “The Middy,” as it’s also known, underwent an extensive floor-to-ceiling interior makeover in 2008, making this venerable establishment perhaps one of the nicest, traditional style taverns you may ever visit. (In our humble opinion!)

We invite you to come in and take a look at the cozy, charming and friendly interior of the revamped Midtown. You may not have been in for some time, perhaps even years, (but who’s counting!), and you might only remember The Middy as it used to be, prior to 2008. Not to worry. The nostalgic tavern still lives on.  Well... sort of. Besides the new bar, draught taps, paint colours, tables & chairs, heating, air conditioning, televisions, shuffleboard, washrooms and glasses, we really didn’t change much at all! Whether you’re with friends, co-workers, sports teams or on your own, The Midtown can accommodate you. Relax at one of our high bar tables, sit on the bank head seats or take over the back room with your team or large group. We have High Definition TV’s to broadcast all major sports events as well as our 90” HD screen in the back room. Enjoy a world famous (ok, town favourite) Capri pizza, some wings or a jumbo hotdog with your beverage. Pickled eggs and pepperettes are also available for traditionalists.

Group parties are a big part of our business, so let us handle your next event! We’ve hosted major birthday parties, high school & family reunions, retirement parties, staff parties, Christmas parties and more.  Some great food options are available for groups and can be arranged ahead of time. You can even choose your own music from the many channels on our satellite radio system, or bring in an I-Pod with your own tunes. There’s no fee to book your party at the Midtown. We guarantee you a good time!

Music fans rejoice! March 20^th marks the launch of the brand new Midtown Music Series. Every Saturday night, we’ll have a live band performing at The Midtown! Our intimate setting has already been host to some really great shows by local favourites, Moondog Uproar, The Leprechauns, The Portside Bouys, KickBack  and even a very cool, impromptu gig by The Trews.
